Vape Detector For Schools

With more and more high vape detector for schools students vaping — the FDA says 20% of all high schoolers do — districts across the country are struggling to find solutions. Some schools are shutting down bathrooms to deter vaping, but others are turning to detectors – devices that look like smoke or carbon monoxide detectors and are designed to sense particulates (including nicotine vapor), volatile organic compounds, temperature and humidity changes, sound abnormalities such as shouting and vandalism.

Enhancing School Safety: Introducing Vape Detectors for Educational Environments

These sensor devices — sometimes called “vape detectors” — alert staff members when they detect problems in bathrooms, according to CNN affilliate WLNY. They also help track students, allowing staff to check where they were when they requested a hall pass and which bathroom they went into. The devices don’t record video or audio and aren’t aimed at recording any specific student’s behavior, but they do send real-time notifications to administrators when they detect problems.

Some districts have found that while the sensors work, they aren’t foolproof. For example, students can find ways to circumvent the sensors by exhaling into toilets and flushing them or into their sleeves. And if the devices aren’t paired with nearby cameras, it can be difficult to see who was caught on tape.
