How to Rent an Apartment in Malta
The malta rent apartment market is competitive, but the good news is that there are many options available. From luxury Resort Apartments to traditional Dwellings of Character, you can choose the type of property that is best for your lifestyle. The key is to do your research.
During your search it is worth taking the time to visit the properties you are interested in a couple of times. This allows you to see the finished product in better detail and also check things like water pressure, damp/mould, aircon etc. It is also a good idea to visit the property in daylight, rather than just in the evening as this will give you a better idea of the light levels and any potential issues.
Most properties in Malta are offered for lease fully furnished. However, if you would prefer not to take any furniture with the property, it is possible to ask the landlord for unfurnished accommodation.

Once you have found a property that meets your needs and budget, the lettings team will prepare the contract for your signature. It will include details of the property, meter readings (electricity and water) and the deposit and advance rent which are usually paid by bank transfer. The lettings team will then arrange a quick visit to the property to carry out a final inspection and note electricity and water meter readings before handing over the keys.
A deposit is payable to the agent or owner at the end of your viewing. If you decide to take the flat, you will need to sign the contract and pay the deposit within 24 hours otherwise someone else will be able to rent it.
